“If decision making is a science, arriving to it is an art”
People often say that they find it hard to make decisions. Some people put off making decisions by endlessly searching for more information or getting other people to offer their recommendations. Others resort to decision-making by taking a vote, sticking a pin in a list or tossing a coin.
We see it to be a simple task; decision-making is the act of choosing between two or more courses of action. In other words, it is the process of problem solving. Decision-making involves choosing between possible solutions to a problem given the fact that all required analysis have been done in a flawless way and following a sound methodical means.
What is hard about making the right decision?
- Not Enough Information: If you do not have enough information, it can feel like you are making a decision without any basis;
- Too Much Information: The opposite problem, but one that is seen surprisingly often: having so much conflicting information;
- Too Many People: Making decisions by committee is difficult. Everyone has their own views, and their own values.
- Emotional Attachments: People are often very attached to the status quo. Decisions tend to involve the prospect of change, which many people find difficult.
How can you help me? What makes you different?
“Our goal is to turn data into information, and then information into insight”
This is our approach in decision making support:
- At first, we discuss the prevailing problem and grasp better understanding about its different angles;
- We then start by gathering the required data related to this problem in a disciplined way;
- We analyze this data and make sure that it is valid and reliable;
- We then build different scenarios to highlight the cost and benefit of different alternatives for each of the proposed solutions;
- By the end of the task, you and your team would have gained insightful knowledge about problem solving skills and tactics used in decision making support.
We can also provide monthly visits to make sure that things are still on the right track and/or the required corrective actions in case of deviating out from the planned path.
